Know More
CNC Routing - CNC stands for Computer Numerically Controlled and CNC routing is the cutting, shaping, drilling, milling, and surfacing of materials using a computer controlled router head. We are able to work on a number of different materials on the CNC router including acrylic, polycarbonate, foam board and dibond sheets.
Laser Cutting - Laser cutting is ideal for cutting materials to a very high level of accuracy. The width of a laser beam is just hundredths of a millimetre meaning that inside cuts can be made without the need for leaving a radius. The finished cut on laser cut acrylic is highly polished, finished edge.
Laser Engraving - Laser engraving is the etching of logos, text, emblems, etc. This process is perfect for personalising such things as trophies, invitations, menus, name/place settings, table numbers, etc. We are able to engrave onto our clear and coloured cast acrylics and it looks especially good on silver and coloured mirrors.
Diamond Edge Polishing - Diamond Edge Polishing is carried out by a floor mounted machine with a belt transport system which feeds the material across a diamond hub cutter. The cutter removes 0.75mm of material, taking with it the saw cut edge and leaving a sharp, crisp polished edge.
Flame Polishing - Flame polishing completely smooths edges and surfaces, yielding the highest quality professional finish attainable. Perfect for creating flawless edges and removing scratches, this process rapidly transforms an opaque, unfinished surface into one that is smooth, clear and glass like. It is also a great way to restore and improve the looks of older plastic parts, and for polishing saw cut edges of acrylic sheet.
Hand Buffing - Hand buffing is the process of sanding down a worked edge of acrylic with fine grades of sand paper and then buffing the acrylic to a high polished finish with a buffing wheel and fine polishing compound. This is especially good for thicker materials. Buffing can also be used on the face of materials to remove scratches and other blemishes.
Moulding - Drape moulding is a forming process that is good for producing large radius curves in plastic panels and for making tubes and cones. It is particularly effective for large components and thick section materials. Drape moulding usually involves the fabrication of a former. The sheet material is then heated in our oven until it reaches a 'floppy' state and is then transferred to the former to take shape.
Bending - A sheet of acrylic is heated in a strip along its length. The width of the heated area is normally around twice the thickness of the material. Due to the characteristics of the material, it becomes flexible when heated, allowing it to be bent to the required shape. Once cooled, the bent material retains the formed shape.
Dome Blowing - A piece of material (normally Cast Acrylic) is heated in an oven. It is transferred to the Dome Blowing unit, where it is clamped under a circular ring. Air pressure is applied which blows the material up. The elastic nature of the material forms it into a uniform, hemispherical dome. Domes can be supplied either with or without a flange at the base.
Cutting - All of our cut-to-size panels are cut to high precision on our sliding bed circular saw. We have an array of other machinery including band saws and over head routers which can add edge finishing details such as chamfers, bevels and rebates.
Bonding - We offer a number of different ways of bonding or gluing acrylic. Our museum grade glue is used for such things as furniture, showcases or parts which need to be 'pristine' in appearance. Larger pieces can be bonded using our acrylic cement to form an extremely strong fix.
